Privacy notice

In short

We collect the least we can: your email, your account settings, and the notes you write to build lessons. No pupil-identifiable data, ever. Data is held in the UK or EU. We do not sell anything to anyone. Lesson content helps improve Lessonsuite unless you turn that off in settings.

Who we are

Lessonsuite is a lesson planning tool for primary teachers in England. We are the data controller for the information described here. If you want to talk to a person about any of it, use the contact page and say so.

What we collect

Your email address and password, so you can sign in. Your class context, which is year group, class size, and counts of EAL and SEND pupils. The notes and documents you give us to plan from, and the lessons we produce. Basic technical logs, which include your IP address and browser, kept for security.

If you pay, our payment provider handles your card. We never see or store card details.

What we never collect

Anything that identifies a child. No names, no dates of birth, no photographs, no assessment records, no SEND documentation. The product asks for counts, not people, and it actively discourages anything more. If you paste something identifying into a notes field, please take it out.

How we use it

To build the lesson you asked for, to keep it in your library, to take payment, and to answer you when you write to us. We use it to fix faults and to understand which parts of the flow people abandon, which is how the product gets better.

Our lawful basis is performance of a contract for the account itself, and legitimate interests for security and product improvement. Analytics run only with your consent, which you can change at any time.

Improving the product

Beyond building your lesson, we use lesson content — your notes and the plans, decks and materials made from them — to improve Lessonsuite itself, so it plans better for the next teacher. Pupil-name stripping runs before any content is used this way.

Our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests: making the product better for the teachers who use it. It is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings under Data, with no effect on how the product works for you. Content from teachers who have opted out is never used.

Anything your school uploads, such as a curriculum overview or scheme of work, is never used to improve the product. The language model provider does not train on your content either; our contract with them prohibits it.

Where it is held

In the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Where a supplier processes data outside that area, it happens under the UK international data transfer agreement or equivalent safeguards.

Who else sees it

A small number of suppliers, each contracted to process only what they need: hosting and storage, the language model provider that generates your draft, email delivery, payment processing, and error monitoring. We do not sell data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not pass it to a school without your instruction.

How long we keep it

Your lessons stay in your library until you delete them or close your account. Close your account and we delete your content within 30 days, apart from records we must keep for accounting. Technical logs are kept for 90 days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to processing, or withdraw consent for analytics. Ask through the contact page and we will do it within a month. If we get it wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
